Mary Robinette Kowal just tagged me in this meme I’d never heard of before, the Lucky Seven. I don’t usually do memes, but it’s Mary (who I freaking adore — there are lots of reasons for this, but someday I’ll write that blog post and make you all cry. In the meantime, go read her novels!)

The ‘rules’ are: Go to page 7 or 77 of your latest work. Read down to the seventh line and then post online the next seven lines or sentences. Then head off and tag seven more writers.

So here are the lines from page 7 of Bound by Lust. It’s the most recent thing of mine to come out, other than poems, which don’t have enough pages. So hopefully it counts for the meme, even though I only edited the collection and didn’t write it. This is from Sommer Marsden’s haunting story, “Reclaiming Spring.”

My toes hovered over the concrete patio, my shoulders screamed, and I embraced the pain. My penance. The pain would wipe the slate clean. The pleasure would bond me and Anthony again so that nothing would come between us again. Even our own grief.

The thrust, and I sighed and surrendered. And then he pulled out, kissed the back of my neck, and left.

Okay, this time I started to cry.

And now I shall meme seven authors at random from the collection, because I want to see what they’ve been working on: Sommer Marsden, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Justine Elyot, Andrea Dale, Alana Noel Voth, Craig Sorensen and Sharazade.

If you want to play along, feel free to post your stuff in the comments — I’d love to read it!

Kiss kiss bang bang, s.!
